NEW LAW OF TIKTOK SHOP, ARE YOU MAKING AFFILIATE TIKTOK OR SELLING ON TIKTOK SHOP PLEASE NOTE.
1. Products that are prone to regulatory violations, new product lines are allowed to trade by tiktok
TikTok is tightening the following products:
- Cosmetics and health (related to the human body): note on licenses and how to provide information
- Products with commitments
- For example, a product that promises to 100% cure headaches or 100% cure acne will not be allowed to be advertised. This means that even if you use a trick to post it on TikTok Shop, but if you say 100% on the video, it will be blocked. You should use other words such as “this ingredient is not a drug and does not have any medical effect”, “this product supplements or improves the problem”.
- Products that have commitments on the platform at the early stage will be accepted, but will be removed later. Words such as “support, supplement, enhance,..” are the words used.
Product ads:
a. Tightening about advertising information::
- Only TTS is currently applying product advertising information.
- The right to advertise information will be restricted if it is too true about the product. However, if you review restaurants and locations, there will be no problem.
- Unfair advertising will be jointly implicated by both sellers and KOC. This means that if it is found to be falsely advertising, both the sales channel and the KOC will be deducted points.
- Regarding the shop: All products without clear information and product origin will also be rated as bad on TTS.
b. Tiktok will scan the following elements:
- QR code
- Phone number
- Information directed towards 3rd platforms
All were rated poorly
- Solutio: When posting products, you must delete or hide this information. However, you should not use blurred or obscured icons, as TikTok Shop will assume that you are covering product ingredients.
- You can expose the barcode, but you must cover the QR code. While recording, you can use your finger to cover the QR code instead of using the symbol.
- The QR code leading to the website or any related code will be removed.
- When you post, AI will not scan immediately but over time AI will scan and mark it as a violation.
c. New rules for TikTok livestreams:
- TikTok is tightening the following information that directs viewers to other platforms: Phở bò, Sàn S, Sọp pe
- These keywords are not allowed in both videos and livestreams. The penalty is heaviest when violating the rules during livestreams.
- When going live, you must attach the product before speaking. If you speak first and then attach the product, you will be violated. For example, if you are talking about headphones, you must put the headphones in the cart before speaking.
- If you send links to products on other e-commerce platforms in private messages, TikTok will not scan them for the time being. It is not known if there will be any new updates in the future.
d. Link Bio:
Although you can still leave your group link, fanpage link, and bio link, it is best to leave your bio link leading to a landing page for some sensitive platforms such as Shopee, Tiki, etc., instead of leaving a blank link.
New products supported by tiktok:
- Agricultural products and fresh food have been allowed to trade on TikTok.
- Fresh fruits have also been accepted.
- Currently, the products that can be sold include durian, mangosteen, and other fresh fruits.
2. Why did the video with the link flop?
– Shop with bad reviews KOC is involved
- If the shop violates the rules, all KOC (Key Opinion Consumers) videos related to that shop will lose interactions. For example, if a shop sells headphones with good reviews and quick link approvals, but customers receive the product after 2 weeks and give negative reviews, then all the product links associated with that shop will flop.
- If a product receives negative reviews and the shop’s reputation score falls between 6 to 12 out of 24 points, all KOC videos with links to that shop’s products will flop as well.
- (Crucial) If KOC receives a product with a poor reputation score and attaches links to that shop’s products, the KOC will face consequences. Currently, only the shop owner knows the reputation score. There have been cases where shops with low reputation scores (red marks) still send products to KOC, and these KOCs still receive the products. However, when reviewed, these products will automatically flop, and the video will be affected. Additionally, if there is excessive advertising in a period, the KOC’s channel will also flop.
- For KOCs who don’t want to receive products from others, they can create their own shop, sell the products, and earn direct affiliate commissions.
- Even if a shop has a good reputation score (green mark), if operational issues occur such as slow order processing, missing deliveries, poor customer service, delayed shipments, incorrect packaging, faulty packaging, etc., and the reputation score decreases, the KOC will still face consequences.
- KOCs need to choose a reputable shop for themselves. The process of receiving products includes checking if the shop has a green or red mark and assessing the operational capabilities, such as whether deliveries and packaging are reliable.
- One TikTok account can be linked to a maximum of 3 shops. Exceeding this limit will result in the account being prohibited from linking to any more shops.
- If a TikTok account violates rules frequently and the shop is removed, the account will lose the ecom rights (TikTok Shop rights). Note: Frequent rule violations do not necessarily mean that the account has a red mark. Checking for violations frequently or infrequently can only be done by MCNs (Multi-Channel Networks) to avoid shop deletion cases.
– How are infringing products handled??
- Each product has 2 stars of hope, which is 2 appeal rights. If the product is sabotaged by a competitor or delivered late, etc., the seller will be able to appeal twice. If the first appeal is successful but the second appeal is unsuccessful, the product will be permanently removed from the shop.
– How to appeal to TikTok Shop:
- Prove that you did not intentionally violate TikTok’s policies. If you did intentionally violate the policies, no one can help you.
- Make a commitment to not repeat the violation and provide a solution.
- Take a picture to prove that you were not in violation of the policy.
- Write a sample appeal letter, stating the product that was blocked/restricted on the platform, the reason for the block/restriction, the solution, and the hope to be rectified soon to have money to buy milk for your child.
- Only appeals can be made in the event of product problems.
3. Content to avoid on the channel
The current trend of controlling tiktok is applying to videos
- Sell to fans for the long term
- Channels that only sell one product will definitely be limited in reach. In the past, many sellers have only posted one product and were suppressed. This means that from beginning to end, they only post videos about one product and have no other content.
- TikTok is balancing videos about entertainment, so there will be fewer videos with TikTok Shop links. Gradually, TTS-type content will decrease.
- TTS is requiring product advertising content to appear in the first 5 seconds of the video. For example, if you are advertising an underarm deodorant, you can open the video by showing your husband’s underarm odor for 2 years without improvement, showing the problem, and then leading to the product.
- TT has 2 gates. 1 sales gate and 1 entertainment gate for viewers. If you post on a platform that does not link to pure entertainment, it will be pushed to the entertainment gate and trend faster. The second gate is the Shop gate, which is not yet processed by AI but is managed by humans, so it may be slower to go up. If a 1 million view clip is on the trend, it will fall into 5 ~ 12% of the likes. If everyone’s video is considered in the tts traffic stream, the likes rate will be very low, maybe 1 million views only get 10k views.
- If you post a video, the ratio should be 2 clips linked to TikTok Shop and 4 clips about normal entertainment. For sellers or those who want to increase traffic, TikTok is updating to run ads on the channel.
Videos are pushed to trend when:
- TikTok requires a 10-second retention rate. This includes the tour and the first few seconds of the video. The 10-second retention rate must be above 20% to trend.
- TikTok also uses a 1000-person sample to determine which videos to trend. If the retention rate is above 20%, the video will be trending. If the retention rate is above 15%, the video will be recommended slowly.
